Saklikent is situated approx 30 miles from Fetiye surrounded by the Toros mountains. It boasts an 18km gorge vistied by millions of tourists. The sides are so steep and narrow that the sun does not penetrate the icy water. Once inside the magnificence of the gorge and its limestone walls towering above you will take your breath away literally. A wide selection of tea rooms and riverside restaurants.
Within a short distance of Saklikent development lie historic sites. Tlos is a city carved out of stone, the site of a roman ampitheatre and a selection of rock tombs fro the lycian period. It is a fantastic site well worth a visit.
The Xantos valley makes a great day out. Patara beach is over 15km long and apart from the obvious swimming in clear blue seas it offers much more. It has around it a wide selection of ancient ruins again from the lycian era. Xantuos occupies a prime spot above a twist in the river and has commanding views of the whole valley. The lycian structures and byzantine buildings include the remnants of a large church with mozaics recently discovered.
